MMU x Uncurbed Collective
Bringing disabled-led performance into social work education.
Our relationship with Manchester Metropolitan University has developed through performance, workshops and collaboration with Social Work students and staff.
Performance creates a shared experience to respond to. From there, students and artists can question, reflect and exchange perspectives, connecting creative work with the realities of social work practice.
Social Murder Festival
Most recently, Uncurbed presented Article 19 as part of Manchester Metropolitan University’s Social Murder Festival 2026. The work brought its questions around UNCRPD rights, autonomy, choice and control into a wider programme of discussion and research — using performance to contribute a disabled-led perspective to the conversation.
Beyond Performance
We've brought artists and audiences together through performance, facilitated conversation and presentations, creating space for students, faculty and the wider MMU network to engage directly with the ideas behind the work. These sessions have opened up conversations around disability, care, co-production and professional practice — with performance providing a shared starting point for discussion, reflection and exchange.
Start a conversation with performance
Our relationship with Manchester Metropolitan University shows what can happen when disabled-led performance becomes part of learning, research and professional conversation.
We’re interested in building similar relationships with universities, educators and organisations — using performance and facilitated conversation to create space for different perspectives, questions and exchange.
