ris-k

Risky? Or a little risqué?

A provocative performance about care, autonomy and what happens when personal choice is labelled a risk.

Inside the Performance

A home visit is underway. Jemma and her care worker interact, while the audience hears something else: Jemma’s inner voice. Unfiltered, personal and uninhibited, her thoughts move through needs and desire, giving the audience access to a side of Jemma that isn't part of the conversation happening in the room.

Further possibilities

RIS-K can form part of a wider learning or professional development programme, using performance as a starting point for facilitated discussion, workshop activity and reflection.

We’re interested in developing this approach with partners working across social care, health, education and professional learning.

Previously presented at Manchester Metropolitan University in ‘The Flat’.

Content & sensory information: RIS-K includes sexual references and language and deals with care, autonomy, sexuality, personal choice and risk. The performance takes the form of a home visit, with the audience hearing Jemma’s inner thoughts whilst observing the interaction taking place.
