Affirmations
Who decides who I am?
Affirmations shifts perspectives and unsettles assumptions, as familiar language begins to take on new meaning. Moving between what is said, what is meant and what is heard, the work questions the labels we give ourselves and each other.
Shifting perspectives
Performers, movement and dialogue inhabit a shared 360° environment, inviting audiences to move around the work and encounter it from different viewpoints. As positions change, so does the picture: words change meaning, relationships shift and new perspectives emerge. Where you stand becomes part of what you see.

Affirmations in your space
Affirmations transforms the relationship between performance, audience and space. Its 360° format invites audiences to find their own viewpoint and allows the work to inhabit spaces beyond a conventional stage — whether as a standalone performance or part of a wider audience journey.
| In Your Space | At a Glance |
|---|---|
| Activate your space — 360° performance makes the surrounding environment part of the encounter | Standalone performance |
| Shift the viewpoint — every position offers a different perspective | Flexible audience configuration |
| Draw audiences in — visually immediate, no fixed stage or seating | Central encounter in larger programme potential |
| Spark conversation — identity, perception, labels and belonging | Performance + discussion potential |
Further possibilities
Affirmations can stand alone or become a central performance within a wider programme in theatres, exhibition spaces and beyond, with opportunities to build conversation and creative activity around the themes of identity, perception and belonging.
We’re interested in exploring how Affirmations could inhabit less conventional spaces, using its 360° format to create different relationships between the performance, audience and place.
Previously presented at: Manchester Art Gallery, The Whitworth, Salford Museum and Art Gallery, Emergency at Contact Manchester, and DaDa Fest International at Tate Liverpool.
